Aviation Scholarships


The 2014 WPA Spokane Chapter Aviation Scholarship program is now over.

Three Scholarships will be awarded at our annual Banquet on Saturday March 7, 2015.

SPEAKER: Steven Van Horn. Forecaster for the National Weather Service in Spokane. One of his duties is to compose the seven day forecast for portions of eastern Washington and the Idaho Panhandle.


Steven is the aviation program leader for our region.

We will be awarding three scholarships to the winners of the 2014 WPA Spokane Chapter Aviation Scholarship program.


The Speaker for the evening will be

Norah O`Neill Retired Airline Captain. She will be speaking of her 35 years flying for the airlines and of the many challenges she faced being one of the first women in her field.


The items donated to the Silent Auction are deductible. The proceeds are used for the Youth Aviation Scholarship Fund.


Tickets for this event are available from any Chapter officer, and at the general meeting.


These events are subject to change, so be sure to read the monthly meeting announcements for the latest schedules



Meetings are usually held at 6 p.m. on the 3rd Wednesday of every month (Unless noted) at Darcy's Restaurant and Spirits, 10502 E. Sprague, Spokane Valley, WA.

The speaker for the evening will be real-life aviator Norah O'Neill, who wrote the book, Flying Tigress, about her experiences flying in the Alaskan Bush in the 1970s.

Norah learned to fly in 1973 and became the first woman pilot for Alaska Central Air (1974) and the Flying Tiger Line.

During her thirty-five years as an airline pilot, Norah amassed 22,000 hours and was the first woman in the world to fly passengers on the Boeing 747
