Aviation Academy
Holding Pattern...
This program at Paine Field has been on pause since the start of Covid-19. Please check back for updates.
There is an active program in Ellensburg (as of August 2022), developed by WPA members.
The Aviation Academy, located at Snohomish County Airport/Paine Field in Everett, WA, is for all students, ages 13 through 18, who are curious about aviation. We begin with an introduction to “ground school.” The books, materials and instruction are designed to give you a real world look at all that aviation has to offer. We will flight plan a local cross-country trip. We check the weather, contact Air Traffic Control… and launch! If you complete all of the classes, you will be assigned to a certificated pilot for further instruction, and, weather permitting at graduation… YOU WILL FLY!

Instruction

The Aviation Academy is taught by an all-volunteer group of some of the most experienced private, commercial and military pilots in the world. Our textbooks will provide you theory, and our pilots will tell you about the “real world!”
If you have any questions about aviation… we have the answers!

Class Schedule

Two evenings per week – Mondays and Wednesdays from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Everett Community College Aviation Maintenance Department at the Snohomish County Airport / Paine Field. We will also meet on Saturdays mornings for tours of local aviation centers (please see the course schedule for details). Weather permitting, we will fly on our final day of the course.

Limited Class Size

Class size is limited to 30 students! Applications are “first come, first served.” We do maintain a wait-list should students drop out or are otherwise unable to attend. Note: As space is limited, we expect students to commit to attending every class. It’s only fair.
